COMPREHENSIVE DIABETES CARE
The Way Free Clinic provides free comprehensive diabetes care to our patients. The program centers around medical care provided by a licensed physician and a Registered Nurse/Certified Diabetes Educator who empower our patients with the necessary skills to improve their quality of life and self-care management by providing:
Monitoring equipment- Test strips
- Nutritional supplements
- Skin cream
- Compression socks, and shoes
- Insulin
- Supplies
- Blood tests
- Hypertension screening and treatment
The education component of the program includes:
- Self-care instruction on the administration of insulin
- Monitoring of blood levels
- Skin care
- Diet and nutrition
- A licensed registered nurse and certified diabetes educator coordinates all educational activities.
The program follows the American Diabetes Association's national standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support, as well as those of the Association of Diabetes Care and Education.
